Um, you’ve probably noticed that it’s insanely hot, like everywhere. And as much as I love the high points of summer (the awesome fresh fruit, swimming, and more sunshine), basically I spend June, July, August, and most of September counting down the days to fall and winter. I even bought the “Christmas Cookies in July” Bluebell Ice Cream (it was delicious, by the way). So, today I thought it would be fun to cool down a little with some Christmas inspiration.
Last Christmas, I stuck with a mostly neutral scheme (see last years tree here!) I’m thinking this year I might infuse some bright colors and this shadow box filled with small ornaments from 52 Mantles has definitely convinced me!
I’m a big advocate for sending Christmas Cards and I think that including a cute holiday photo is the cherry on top. This couple tangled in lights is just too adorable! Photo by Haley Sheffield.
Christmas mice!!! (via Thrifty Decor Chick) These little guys are so adorable. We don’t have stairs but I can see them scattered around the baseboard in our living room and hallway. I think Martha Stewart sells this little silhouettes but you can probably create your own, cut them out of black card stock and add Christmas ribbons. How cute.
A couple of years ago I learned how to make homemade marshmallows and they seriously kick the store-bought ones in the butt! I thought this year I might put together some hot chocolate kits to have on hand for Secret Santa gifts or even a hostess gift and these Candy Cane Marshmallows via Martha Stewart would be the perfect addition!
Pretty presents are a new obsession for me and this suite via Grey Likes Weddings is so adorable! I especially love the use of brown kraft paper. It’s cheaper than all the patterned wrapping paper, way more versatile, and it even looks chic.
So, there you go. Some super, super early Christmas inspiration from yours truly. Hopefully, it cools you down a bit and maybe even gives you the oomph to get a head start on the holidays. Happy Friday the 13th! (…maybe I should’ve done Halloween inspiration too? LOL)
